When we originally wrote this article back in February 2025, the Trustpilot score was 4.3, and since we linked directly to the Trustpilot page, we certainly would not have quoted the wrong score in hopes of being misleading.
We also want to note that our Trustpilot analysis only included recent “Verified” reviews. Unfortunately, none of the 1-star reviews are verified, which is something readers can take up directly with Trustpilot if they have concerns about authenticity.

Thanks for the reply. Many people complained to the BBB so I don’t think the 1 star ratings were necessarily fake. Another potential red flag is the fact that the reviews on the realdoll website are few and pretty old, on most robots for instance they are 2-4 years old, which seems strange. Excited customers usually leave reviews, right?
I agree that the 1-star reviews being so similar to those on the BBB makes it seem like at least some of them must be real. Still, it is odd that none of them are verified, especially given how expensive these products are and how quick it is to get verified on Trustpilot.
Regarding your other point, yes, that is definitely strange. It is also strange that all the videos I have been able to find online are official Realdoll or Realbotix videos. There do not seem to be any genuine customer demos or review videos showing real interactions with the robots. If you happen to come across one, please let me know.
I looked for those myself and couldn’t find any videos, plus nobody shares their experience with the robots on reddit or quora or other platforms, or at least I couldn’t locate anything meaningful. I understand privacy, but I think there are ways to post a video of your verbal interaction with a robot and still maintain the privacy aspect. Yet I can’t find any videos anywhere.
It’s also strange to me that the official realdoll website is so secretive regarding the AI capabilities of the robots. For that price point you’d think they would have a manual posted or some detailed info. I can’t even tell basic things such as, do you have to constantly press buttons on the app to get the robot to respond, does the robot have any autonomy in conversation, what is the range of subjects that can be discussed and in what depth, is there potential for continuous update of the AI or will my expensive doll be a museum piece in 2 years at the rate AI advances?

You are being completely reasonable, and you’re right that people could easily post demos of the doll having conversations and similar interactions. When I spoke with them via chat a couple of months ago about their AI offerings, they said, “We’re working on new software, hardware, and user interface capabilities, which should be completed in September or October.”
They have been making some updates to their website recently, and I just noticed a new logo this morning, so it will be interesting to see how things develop.
